This course introduces students to the central beliefs, 实践, and virtues of the Christian faith and its diverse past and present expressions. In a world marked by individual and social sin, this course focuses on the ways Christian Scripture, 信条, 学说, and communities form Christian disciples’ identity and their calling to partner in God’s reconciling work in the world. Some sections of this course may be designated for transfer students. Students must also enroll in a lab for this course (UFDN 1000升) taught by the same instructor.

Derived from SPU’s Wesleyan/ holiness heritage, Wesleyan small groups embody a practice in Christian formation and reconciliation that exposes UFDN 1000 students to Christian community, and facilitate growth in awareness and love of self, 邻居, 和上帝. 为了达到这些目的, participants gather weekly under the leadership of a trained facilitator to ask and answer the question, “你的灵魂怎么样??” Participation in a SoulCare Wesleyan Small Group is required for all students enrolled in UFDN 1000. This course explores the formative role that Christian Scriptures perform within the community of believers. It seeks to introduce students to the literature and theology of both Old and New Testaments and to provide them with the necessary skills to make responsible use of Scripture as the church's principal authority in nurturing a Christian's faith and witness. Course cannot be taken for upper-division credit. May be repeated for credit 0 times.
